Tree Island Industries, Inc. (Tree Island), a former portfolio company, is one of North America's largest manufacturers of nails, bright and galvanized wire (including baling wire and spring wire for the bedding and upholstery industry), stucco reinforcing products and other fabricated wire products used in construction, agricultural, forestry and industrial applications. Tree Island, with its four subsidiaries, Advanced Wire Technologies, K-Lath Corporation, Halsteel Inc. and Industrial Wire Products Corporation, operates nine plants in North America. In November 2002, the Tree Island Wire Income Fund [TSX: TIL.UN] was listed for trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange. In October 2004, Tricor sold its remaining ownership interest in Tree Island.
