Derek Senft

As Managing Director, Derek contributes to Tricor’s strategic planning, business development, capital deployment, and oversight of investment partnerships.

Alongside his duties at Tricor, Derek leads his own family-owned investment vehicle, Garibaldi Blue Investment Company, through which he invests directly in a variety of ventures.   

Derek serves as Chairman of Overland Container Transportation Services (Tricor investment since 2013). Derek also oversees Tricor’s portfolio of industrial real estate properties and specific alternative investment partnerships. 

Derek co-founded the Founders Group of Food Companies alongside Rod Senft, Trevor Johnstone and Richard Harris in 2014. As Managing Partner within Founders, Derek is an owner and Board Director of Founders’ portfolio companies including, Presteve Foods, Totally Chocolate, Durham Meat and Seafood, and Rainier Pure Beef (serving as Chairman).

Derek is an advocate for the Binners’ Project and Little Warriors charities, and a former Board Director of Prostate Cancer Canada.

Derek has 20 + years of private equity & family office investing experience. Since 2012, Derek has led 40 + buyout investments and add-on acquisitions of mid-market operating businesses (control & minority), industrial real estate, and other alternative investments. He started his career at CIBC (investment banking) and then went on to lead direct investing for Tricor Pacific Capital Private Equity Fund IV and later for Pender West Capital Partners. He received his B.A. degree from Dartmouth College (Hanover, NH) and his M.B.A. degree from London Business School (London, UK).
